Death
The Netherblog

God damn balls.

Hi gang.  Dustin here.

What do Farrah Fawcett, Michael Jackson, Billy Mays with OxyClean, and my video card all have in common?

Greetings from my wife’s computer.  So here’s the bad news.  Until further notice, the comic is on hiatus.  Why?  My video card died–kinda need that to work on the strip (or to use my computer at all).

The good news is that my birthday is just over a week away, and I finally know what I want now.  I should be back in fighting form very soon.

Joking aside for a moment, there’s nothing more humbling than contemplating mortality, and nothing makes you do that more than the loss of human life.  It is my hope that the aforementioned dead are at peace.  Maybe you should make a point of calling your loved ones this week.  Who knows?  You might be next (I hope not though).

Much apologizings.

Now Then…

So here’s what went down yesterday.

We got to the hospital at about 7:00 yesterday morning.  The doctor went in with some kind of coat hanger-ish looking tool and broke Jen’s water.  All she had to do was dilate to 10cm, and then we would have been good to go.

Twelve hours of looking at our shoes later, Jen still had only dilated 1cm.  The doctor said we could continue to wait for dilation if we wanted, but recommended a c-section.  Jen’s grandma was in there at the time–had to ask her to leave for a minute (sorry, Grandma!), we talked about it and went for the c-section.  Kinda wish that had been offered as a choice before the twelve hours, but you know, whatever.

The c-section was not exactly what I was expecting.  They didn’t cut her open; instead, they used something like a soldering iron to burn her open.  Not sure exactly how it worked, but I definitely got a good wiff of my wife’s burning flesh, and that was no fun.

And then there was Reina.  They just kinda scooped her out of there (which was only a little unsettling) and took her back to wipe all the goo off.  As I said yesterday, I was planning on taping the whole thing, but their lawyers wouldn’t allow it.  I did get some still shots of her right after they’d taken her out–I’ll have those up as soon as I get a chance to chop out all the baby drool and blur out all the various vaginas and bare naked titties.

Reina was born at 7:50pm.  She weighted 6lbs 8oz, measured in at 18.5″, and for now she has dark blue eyes and just a little bit of dirty blonde hair.  lol, she was also kinda born with a horn; her head was all lumpy and lopsided when she came out (she also had some pretty mean scratches on her head from where the doctor broke Jen’s water too, poor thing).  I can see a little of me and a little of her mom in her.  Right now, though, she pretty much just looks like a cute little baby.

The recovery room they stuck Jen in afterwards is about one third the size of the delivery room we were in originally, and may be the hottest room I’ve ever been in.  The AC’s still blowing full blast, but everyone in there is sweaty and uncomfortable.  They finally showed up with a fan.  The fan helped.

I went up there earlier to make sure mom and baby were ok, but I’d walked off and forgot a couple of key things I was supposed to bring, so I’m back at home for the moment, grabbing a bite to eat, writing this, and then I’m gonna head back up there.  Expect pictures on Myspace and Facebook very soon!
